Here is an exercise that can help you to uncover your second thoughts. Perhaps it can also help you make a clearer choice. You might have someone coach you through it. Note, the person being coached need not verbalize an answer; they need only have one in mind.
Coach asks you, "What makes life worth living?"
You answer. Example: "Fulfillment in my work."
- Coach says, "State that as if you already have it."
You do so. Example: "I find fulfillment in my work."
- Coach asks you, "Do you have any reservations about that?"
State what that is, either to yourself or aloud. Doubts and "reasons why" count.
Example: "I’m not making enough money."
- Coach asks you, "What do you want?".
You answer. Example: "I want to make more money."
- Coach says, "State that as if you already have it."
You do so. Example: "I make enough money to satisfy me."
Return to Steps (3) - (5) and repeat until you reach an answer to (3) where you arrive at a crucial insight that increases your sense of power in the situation.
If you get stuck at any of Steps (3) - (5), return to Step (1). Continue through all the steps until you arrive at a crucial insight that increases your clarity of purpose or sense of power in the situation.
By the time you finish, expect a new perspective on the situation -- and renewed optimism in choosing life.
