The onslaught of experience is like gravity &#8212; an ongoing<br \/>\ninfluence that endlessly &#8220;tests&#8221; our balance and fluidity.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div data-block=\"true\" data-offset-key=\"fcsln-0-0\" data-react>\n<span data-offset-key=\"fcsln-0-0\" data-react><br data-reactid=\".27.1:3:1:$comment927105570646628_933686556655196:0.0.$right.0.0.0.0.1.0.0.1.0.$fcsln.0:$fcsln-0-0.0\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div data-block=\"true\" data-offset-key=\"cgh32-0-0\" data-react>\n<span data-offset-key=\"cgh32-0-0\" data-react><span data-react>&#8220;The<br \/>\n Fair State&#8221; of which Thomas Hanna wrote is an ideal, asymptotically<br \/>\napproached (but never reached), in which responses are increasingly<br \/>\nfree, creative, and finely tuned and in which attention is increasingly<br \/>\ndiscerning and accurate &#8212; both toward &#8220;the world&#8221; (3d and 2nd person)<br \/>\nand toward ourselves (1st person) &#8212; and leading to transpersonal<br \/>\nawakening (&#8220;0&#8243;th person).<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div data-block=\"true\" data-offset-key=\"9hk9f-0-0\" data-react>\n<span data-offset-key=\"9hk9f-0-0\" data-react><br data-reactid=\".27.1:3:1:$comment927105570646628_933686556655196:0.0.$right.0.0.0.0.1.0.0.1.0.$9hk9f.0:$9hk9f-0-0.0\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div data-block=\"true\" data-offset-key=\"61p9u-0-0\" data-react>\n<span data-offset-key=\"61p9u-0-0\" data-react><span data-react>Thus,<br \/>\n a life may be seen as a struggle to overcome the onslaught of<br \/>\nexperience, which drives us, again and again, to lower levels of<br \/>\nfunction &#8212; lower levels of brain function (below the neocortex).  By<br \/>\n&#8220;rebound&#8221; (refusal of limitation), we may awaken at the neocortical<br \/>\nlevel and creatively develop means to exceed those limitations, leading<br \/>\nto new habit formation and subsidence of the higher cortical functions.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div data-block=\"true\" data-offset-key=\"22bu6-0-0\" data-react>\n<span data-offset-key=\"22bu6-0-0\" data-react><br data-reactid=\".27.1:3:1:$comment927105570646628_933686556655196:0.0.$right.0.0.0.0.1.0.0.1.0.$22bu6.0:$22bu6-0-0.0\" \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div data-block=\"true\" data-offset-key=\"8334h-0-0\" data-react>\n<span data-offset-key=\"8334h-0-0\" data-react><span data-react>Thus,<br \/>\n humans alternately awaken to our higher potential and then sink to<br \/>\nlower levels and then, in conditions of crisis, rise again. describes the more complex forms of habituation &#8212; emotion,<br \/>\nconceptualization\/cognition &#8212; observable 3d-person as habits of action<br \/>\nand interiorly-feelable pattens of tension identified (mistakenly or<br \/>\nonly provisionally) as, &#8220;self&#8221;
