It&#8217;s a &#8220;one foot on the accelerator, one foot on the brake&#8221; situation.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nThose<br \/>\n hidden grips show up as patterns tendency for things to go a certain way, of behavior habits and characteristic personal experiences<br \/>\n that are recognizable in a person, that have a <u>&nbsp;feel <\/u>to<br \/>\n them that are part of the person&#8217;s sense of self, their presence, their way of harmony in life, more or less, their personal quality and the habits by which people recognize<br \/>\nthem.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nThese<br \/>\n hidden grips show up as the chronic issues and ongoing complaints of a<br \/>\nperson&#8217;s existence; perhaps <i>unexpectedly<\/i>, they also show up as the<br \/>\nvirtues they uphold. They are the programs of a person&#8217;s existence, a<br \/>\nbody of unfathomably deep-seated, totally unconscious tension sets (on<br \/>\nyour mark, get set . . . . . ) maintained perpetually on automatic:&nbsp; all<br \/>\nkinds of memory conditioning, residual influences, sensations that are<br \/>\nbelow where attention ordinarily reaches in ourselves, unless flushed up enough to be recognized.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>When flushed up, are<br \/>\n seen to <i>major <\/i>distortions in oneself in the form of, &#8220;How it the<br \/>\n world did I get that way??&#8221; &nbsp;But before that, it is generally something<br \/>\nunrecognized that we do and experience again and again, and again.<\/p>\n<p>Such an experience, as and however remembered, can be &#8220;blitzed&#8221; by <b>The Lightning Bolt<\/b> or shattered by <b>The Hammer of Thor<\/b><br \/>\n &#8212; to dissolve away the part or aspect of that behavior pattern that we<br \/>\nconfuse with the basic reality of life and so believe is unavoidable.<\/p>\n<p>We may artfully use <b>The Lightning Bolt<\/b> and <b>The Gold Key Release, <\/b>alternately, to good effect; one does &#8220;clean-up&#8221; after the other.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>We<br \/>\n confuse conditional reality with our fundamental sense of<br \/>\never-hereness, which IS reality; we confuse (mentally fuse) conditional<br \/>\nreality with Eternal EVER-HERENESS &#8212; and the sign of this confusion is<br \/>\nthe feeling that things will never change (which <u>is<\/u> how it feels,<br \/>\n whatever we may think). This confusion of EVER-HERENESS with memory<br \/>\ngives memory an air of permanence, even while it&#8217;s temporary.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>BACKGROUND:&nbsp; Ever-Here-ness and Conditional Reality<\/b><\/span> <br \/>\nEVER-HERENESS<br \/>\n doesn&#8217;t change &#8212; and it ain&#8217;t nuthin&#8217; in particular. It &#8220;always<br \/>\nalready IS&#8221;.&nbsp; However, for these words to make sense, you must have<br \/>\nawakened to the intuition of, &#8220;that which has been the same all my life&#8221;<br \/>\n &#8212; which is not an object of attention (inner or outer), nor anything that can be intended, remembered or imagined. <\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s what The<br \/>\nBuddha called, &#8220;a tacit intuition&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>Practice of The Gold Key Release<br \/>\ndissolves the sense of &#8220;something-ness&#8221;, so that we may intuit our<br \/>\nformless presence, which, in that moment of intuition, we recognize as<br \/>\nhaving always been.<\/p>\n<p>When we catch that we are<br \/>\nconsidering &#8220;EVER-HERENESS&#8221; to be &#8220;something we can identify&#8221;, WE<br \/>\nRECOGNIZE THE FALLACY OF IT because EVER-HERENESS is not a product of<br \/>\nmind or an object of mind. It is of an order completely other than mind;<br \/>\n it is &#8220;formless feeling&#8221;, a kind of feeling that dissolves attention so we come to rest in a natural way as &#8220;consciousness without an object&#8221;.&nbsp; At that moment of recognition,<br \/>\nwe may release what we have mis-identified as EVER-HERENESS,&#8221; and intuit<br \/>\n the field of radiant awareness that underlies everything and pervades<br \/>\nus, ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to everything we have thought or have heard, Reality is unknown by us, unknown <i>to<\/i> us &#8212; not a form of knowledge, <u>at all<\/u>, but ineffable experience that cannot be reduced to comprehension. &nbsp;Reality cannot be defined.<\/p>\n<p>The reason <b>The Lightening Bolt<\/b><br \/>\n works is that our habitual states are always forms of definition or<br \/>\nlimited conditioning, whereas Reality is inherently formless.&nbsp; When we<br \/>\nlet go of our sense of Reality, we are <u>not<\/u> letting go of Reality, but of conditioning <u>mis-identified<\/u> as Reality, but which we have held onto as if it <u>were<\/u> Reality.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nSaid, again, when we do the release-step of <b>The Lightening Bolt (The Hammer of Thor)<\/b>,<br \/>\n we may think we are releasing the effort to intuit, identify, or locate<br \/>\n Reality (our Here-ness), when what we are really releasing an effort<br \/>\nthat keeps us stuck in our conditioning, which, as I said, we confuse<br \/>\nwith &#8220;Here-ness&#8221;.&nbsp; When we release the effort to intuit &#8220;Here-ness&#8221;<br \/>\n(or &#8220;Now-ness&#8221;, or &#8220;Reality&#8221;), we release the force of our conditioning<br \/>\nalong with it. What&#8217;s left is the intuition of formless Reality.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nMost strictly speaking, &#8220;Here-ness&#8221; is <i>always<\/i>&nbsp;already the case and <i>always<\/i>&nbsp;already our present condition.&nbsp; We are always, already Here &#8212; so anything we may do to intuit &#8220;Here-ness&#8221; is <i>in addition<\/i>&nbsp;to Here-ness and can only obscure our intuition of &#8220;Here-ness&#8221; as our <i>already<\/i>&nbsp;condition. &nbsp;The release that occurs in The Lightening Bolt only clears that way for that intuition.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nThe<br \/>\n way to intuit Reality, or Here-ness, or &#8220;The Now&#8221;, is to let go of it<br \/>\nand any effort to intuit it.&nbsp; Then, something entirely unexpected<br \/>\nflashes forward or the way clears into it. Beyond these words, nothing<br \/>\nuseful may be said.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nSo, strike The Lightening Bold a few times in a row. &nbsp;Notice the result. &nbsp;It gets interesting.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<b><span style=\"font-size: large;\">The Lightning Bolt<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<b>Thus:<\/b><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nIn your memory, fully experience whatever<br \/>\nexperience you would like to dissolve, whether a negative condition, an<br \/>\nideal that you recognize compulsively limits you, or any arbitrary thing<br \/>\n you might like to change.<\/p>\n<p>The steps are:<\/p>\n<p>1. Feel its existence. [advanced:] Intend its existence. (one breath)<br \/>\n2. Feel its persistence. [advanced:] Remember its persistence.&nbsp;(one breath)<br \/>\n3. Feel its location. [advanced:] Attend to its location, as felt or experienced.&nbsp;(one breath)<br \/>\n4. Feel its direction (where it&#8217;s going). [advanced:] Imagine its direction. It&#8217;s a kind of opening-to (one breath)<\/p>\n<p>Do not <i>think,<\/i>&nbsp;<i>ruminate about<\/i>, or <i>analyze<\/i> it; that&#8217;s not experiencing. Steady your attention on each step long enough for it to stabilize; you&#8217;ll get an experience. <\/p>\n<p>You do the advanced forms once you easily remember the basic steps.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nFeel it all as a single intensity.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Notice what is <b>not<\/b>&nbsp;that.&nbsp;Feel until your<br \/>\n attention steadies a bit. &nbsp;Relax into it. Let yourself lose track of that shape. <\/p>\n<p>(If<br \/>\nyou can&#8217;t let yourself lose track and feel outside the shape, notice<br \/>\nwhat constrains you &#8212; some tension or holding on. Feel that and continue.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Now, switch to noticing your sense of &#8220;Here-ness&#8221; &#8212; that which has always been the same, all your life.\n<p>ALTERNATELY: Feel your whole body as the shape of a sensation.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Notice what you do to locate, &#8220;Here-ness&#8221;.<br \/>The action feels like &#8220;centering&#8221;. It&#8217;s the target of the lightening-strike.\n<p>ALTERNATELY: Hold the sensation, draw and release three breaths.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Recognize that sensation as a temporary, stressful effort.&nbsp; Stop holding onto it. &nbsp;Let it go. &nbsp;Lose track of it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nYou will&nbsp;feel tensions dissipate, yourself reshape, and probably sigh spontaneously as the experience dissolves partially or completely.<\/p>\n<p>You<br \/>\n have felt the experience as it is, diffused your attention as much as<br \/>\nyou can, and then located and struck at the center of your sense of &#8220;persistent reality&#8221; and then dissolved it &#8212; hence the name, The Lightning Bolt. Imagine a little puff of smoke where your sense of reality used to be. Just kidding.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">The Hammer of Thor<\/span><\/span><\/b><br \/>\n<b>The Hammer of Thor<\/b>&nbsp;uses the power of&nbsp;<b>intention<\/b><i style=\"font-weight: bold;\">&nbsp;<\/i>to undo the effects of conditioning. It reveals how our own intention, running on automatic, keeps that conditioning in existence, and relieves us of that condition either in big chunks or, in the case of extremely dense conditioning, layer by layer.<\/p>\n<p>The structure of <b>The Hammer of Thor<\/b>&nbsp;is as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Locate and identify the feeling of the condition or conditioning you want to pulverize and dissipate. This step is similar to the equivalent steps in the other procedures presented on this page. You may use variations of this step found in other procedures. Use what works well, for you.<\/p>\n<p>With that feeling-attention, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<p><b>Think to yourself, with intent to experience it:<\/b><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Intending<\/li>\n<li>Intending<\/li>\n<li>Intending intending<\/li>\n<li>Intending [the condition or conditioning].<\/li>\n<li>Feel for and release your intention about it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nRepeat to a satisfactory result (dissolution of the item).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">The Thunderclap \/ <span style=\"font-size: small;\">(a-Rumblin&#8217; in the Canyon)<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<b><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Rationale <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nThe things we experience, presently,<br \/>\nhave a certain momentum to them, maintained by our memories of them.<br \/>\n&nbsp;Those memories occupy the space in which we would like to put a new<br \/>\nexperience, so we have to remove them to make space.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<br \/>\nThe Thunderclap consists of two parts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<ol>\n<li>By<br \/>\n alternating between remembering our current experience and imagining our desired experience,<br \/>\nwe loosen the grip and dissolve the density of the current experience.<br \/>\n&nbsp;That action is the part of the &#8220;Thunderclap&#8221; that creates the needed space.<\/li>\n<li>In the space created, we attend to and intend our desired experience.<br \/>That &#8220;attending&#8221; and &#8220;intending&#8221; is a new reverberation in the world.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nOnce you&#8217;ve created space and set up a new reverberation, persons and conditions around you that <i><b>can<\/b><\/i> resonate with your intention begin to do so and, as they show up, you will perceive in them a possibility of fulfilling your intention.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nYou may use <b>The Thunderclap <\/b>to fulfill desires or to transform conditions &#8212; to go beyond and then to go <i>beyond <\/i>going beyond.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<b>The Thunderclap is thus:<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Identify an experience you would like to have.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Call up whatever you may remember about it.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Imagine the possibility. <\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Return to your memory of it.<br \/>You will notice that your memories color your sense of possibility.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<b><br \/><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<b>Now, when the space is noticeably clearer:<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Imagine how it all might change.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Remember how it all might change.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Imagine how it all might change.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<b><br \/><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<b>Now, when your perception of how it all might change is vivid:<\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nApply your intention to what you have just imagined, one last time, to the degree you are able, and do <b>The Lightning Bolt<\/b> on it.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nRepeat to a satisfactory result. It goes as follows:<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify your &#8220;item&#8221; (conditioning).<\/li>\n<li>Feel its location in you, its shape and intensity.<\/li>\n<li>Switch: Feel it and all what is beyond it (radiationally outwardly) toward the space that contains it all.<\/li>\n<li><i>You cannot feel that space because it&#8217;s <b>the Unknown Unknown; <\/b>what you <b>can<\/b>&nbsp;feel is your inability to locate it.<\/i><\/li>\n<li>Return to your item in the intuition of &#8220;inability to locate it&#8221;. Bring that intuition toward your item.\n<p><i>At first, you may not be able to locate your item, same as you couldn&#8217;t locate the <b>Unknown Unknown.<\/b><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>When your item reappears to your noticing, notice that it is a location of density within the <\/i><b style=\"font-style: italic;\">Unknown Unknown<\/b><i>, which pervades it.<\/i><\/li>\n<li>Feel the contrast between the density of your item and the <i>lack of density<\/i>&nbsp;of the Unknown Unknown.<\/li>\n<li>Stay with it until your item starts to lose its cohesiveness, to dissolve and dissipate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">\nThe actual doing of the procedure is much simpler than the words used to describe it. The first time is the most difficult.
